I am a National Board certified English teacher who strives to instill a love of reading and writing in her students. I can’t imagine my life without books- the many overflowing bookcases in my house and classroom are a testament to this.

Bio:
Mrs. Gross is a regular contributor to the New York Times Learning Network and her writing has appeared in Scientific American, Edutopia, ASCD, and The Washington Post’s Answer Sheet. She also teaches a middle school science enrichment program through the STARS Challenge program at Monmouth University and serves as a board member for the curiousYoungwriters blog, which provides a platform for publishing student writing that describes nontraditional animal models in biomedical research. She previously taught middle school language arts in Manalapan.

- I am a proud graduate of High Tech.
- I am the oldest of 6 children. My youngest sister is a freshman at Red Bank Catholic.
- I own two Australian Shepherds (Dublin and Bailey) and they keep me very active!
- Dublin is a certified therapy dog.
- I love, love, love chocolate!
- Every year I participate in a 48 hour Reading Challenge where I read for 48 hours straight. It's awesome!
- I raise monarch butterflies.
- I have visited Mexico, Ireland, Scotland, Honduras, and Canada. I want to visit Belize and Costa Rica in the future.
- I have too many favorite books to choose just one. Right now my favorites include A Ring of Endless Light by Madeline L'Engle, Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein, and Endangered by Eliot Schrefer.
- I have completed NaNoWriMo three times.
